Thank you to everyone who has given feedback on the new canteen service. People seem pretty happy with the improved quality but we are reviewing some prices and more sustainable packaging. Please continue to support Dhan and the Club as we work together to improve the service to our members.
Great weather for our first Auskick session last Saturday! Around 180 boys and girls and families turned out to enjoy the sunshine. The Auskick Coordinators Tim, Glen and Pete, along with the other Coaches, are rolling out Auskick 2.0 which is designed to reduce queues and give the kids more time with the ball in their hands. Early reports indicate that the new program is a great idea.
Round 3 fixture The Round 3 fixture (link) has been released: U9s and U10s are not being graded but other age groups will be grouped together for the grading rounds. Divisions for each team will be known after Round 4 but the fixture for the first four rounds will be released week by week. U14s face their third away match in a row, visiting the furthest reaches of the league in the first 3 rounds. The NFNL have assured us that their next two games will both be at home.
It’s great to see photos of the Cougars players in action but our trusty photographers Ros and Rene can’t be at every match. If there are any other DSLR photographers out there please send photos to firstname.lastname@example.org There are a few players who don’t want their images published so please check with your Team Manager before taking photos of your team.
We’re still looking for more players for our girls teams, particularly for our Under 16 team. If you have any friends, sisters, neighbours or cousins that want to give football a try bring them down so they can join in the fun. We’ve stopped accepting registrations for our U11 and U13 boys teams, but there are still a few spots in other teams and age groups for anyone else that hasn’t signed up yet.
Congratulations to Macsen Connelly from U12 Blue who played his 50th game in Round 1 – well done! Liam Dodson & Joel Napoleone from U13 and Luca Norquay-Whitford from U12 Blue will also be celebrating their 50th games this week. Sullivan Everett will be playing his 100th game for the Cougars – terrific effort Sully!
Round 2 fixture The Round 2 fixture has been released: Round 2 U9s and U10s are not being graded but other age groups will be grouped together for the grading rounds. Divisions for each team will be known after Round 4 but the fixture for the first four rounds will be released week by week. There are nine home games this week, including all U9s and all our girls teams. It will be very busy so, if possible, please ride or walk to the ground if you’re playing at home.
The Northcote Park Football and Netball Club have again kindly provided the junior club with memberships for the 2018 season which begins this Friday night against Bundoora. The memberships allow free entry for an adult, kids are free. Please see Steve Harford (coach of the under 16 girls) who is at training most nights to get a membership card. The NNFL is littered with ex AFL stars including Brent and Shane Harvey, Ricky Dyson, Gary Moorecroft, Travis and Cameron Cloke, Jack Grimes, Ahmed Saad, Ben Haynes, Ben Kennedy and Matt White. Northcote Park doesn’t have any ex-AFL players but does have several of our home grown ex-Northcote Junior players including Bronik Davies, Harrison Reid and Lachy Boscarini. On the back of 2 unsuccessful finals campaigns over the last 2 years…
