Under 14 Girls – Finals Football
Good morning, Well done yesterday on a great effort in for most of the team was their first finals game.
Somehow we managed to have our second successive draw with Mont and went down in extra time by 3 points. On reflection our defensive game was absolutely awesome. To hold Mont to just 15 points for the game was a great effort. Our desire to run back has improved greatly over the past few weeks as has our tackling and under great pressure the entire team did a great job, keep it up! I was very happy with Norma’s game, kicking our goals and playing probably her best game for the year on the back of some great tackles. Jasmine, Christina and Mia were also great around the ball and gave their all for the full 60 minutes, well done. We did have a few girls play below their best and considering the result if we play our best football we are every chance to go all the way. I’m sure with that game under our belt we will be much better for the rest of the finals series. I guess the areas we need to really focus on are our leading and ball use going into the forward line, tackling (a few slipped) and our running, too often they out numbered us at the ball.
Time to step it up at training. I’ll be there all 3 nights this week so please make the effort to get down to training if you can. Again an awesome game against the team to beat, we are so close to cracking them. Keep your heads up and lets have a really positive upbeat week at training.
Next week we play Yarrambat the website was wrong yesterday, they haven’t seen our best football yet so lets prepare well and show them and Mont that are season is far from over!
